Somatic work is not talk therapy, but they can overlap, and compliment each other well.
In talk therapy the focus is talking through experiences and emotions, mentally thinking through how things impact your life, and how you can improve or resolve negative feelings.
In somatic work, the focus is on your physical body. There is a certain amount of talking and sharing, but the focus is always brought back to how what you share feels within your body. We bridge the gap that can form between your mental and physical being. I always remind people: Your body has been with you through every experience in your life, just as your mind has, so it is crucial to keep your physical and mental lines of communication open.
